Community Response Hub

The community response hubs are here to support members of the public who are unable to call upon an immediate network of family, friends, neighbours or carers to support them with amenities, such as medication collections and food shopping.

What help can we provide? Requesting help

If you or someone you know needs help

Not everyone has a network of family, friends, neighbours or carers to call upon. The Community Response Hub is here to help tackle a range of issues you or somebody you know might be experiencing due to the Covid-19 social isolation measures.

You can request help and support for yourself or on behalf of somebody else.

Food

Members of the public are encouraged to use their immediate network of friends, family, neighbours or carers to help them with food shopping or use the existing delivery options for their food shop.

Many major supermarkets offer a food shop delivery service, with some also offering priority slots for those most in need.

Many local green grocers, butchers and home wear shops are also now offering contactless home delivery, with orders able to be placed by telephone. Please contact your local shop for further information and any delivery charges.

However, if these options are not possible, the community response hubs can arrange a volunteer to help with personal shopping or an emergency paid food package can be provided. A food package will provide essential dry cupboard food only.

If you don't not have means to pay for food, the call handlers can support you with help from local foodbanks.

For more information on your local foodbank or social supermarket, visit East Riding Health and Wellbeing

Medication

If you are unable to visit your local pharmacy or call upon family, friends, neighbours or carers to pick up your medication, your pharmacy may be able to deliver to you directly. Some pharmacies may charge a cost for this service. Contact your local pharmacy for more information or to arrange a delivery.

If you're still unable to make arrangements to get your medication delivered, then the community response hubs will be able to assist.

Please note, the community response hubs will not be able to assist with picking up controlled medication.

Befriending Service

The council offers a free befriending service via Hull and East Yorkshire (HEY) Smile Foundation.
